The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance coupe has been officially unveiled as the fastest accelerating car in the Mercedes-AMG lineup, surpassing the record-breaking AMG One hypercar.

Introduced at Formula 1‘s recent Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, this formidable two-door vehicle promises a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 2.8 seconds (0.1 seconds quicker than the AMG One) and a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

The all-wheel-drive powerhouse is equipped with a robust 450 kW/850 Nm ‘M177’ 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine coupled with a 150 kW/320 Nm electric motor mounted on the rear axle. Combined, it delivers an impressive combined output of 600 kW/1420 Nm. Slightly less power but more torque than its 2023 four-door counterpart (starting price: $399,900 plus on-road costs).

The GT63 S E Performance coupe is effectively the two-door version of the four-door GT63 S E Performance, providing an alternative for those seeking the thrill of a high-performance coupe with the practicality and clever technology of a plug-in hybrid. Despite the expected increase in weight due to its hybrid system — likely pushing the scales between 2,100kg to 2,200kg — the coupe maintains a compact footprint on the road.

This model is only outstripped in power within the Mercedes-AMG two-door range by the 782 kW AMG One hypercar (of which two examples are coming to Australia), and also holds the title for fastest Mercedes AMG top speed at 352 km/h. However, the GT63 S E Performance coupe’s blend of extreme performance, cutting-edge hybrid technology, and accessibility marks a significant milestone for Mercedes-AMG.

As you’d expect from Mercedes-AMG, power is only one part of the equation, with sophisticated styling and an appropriately luxurious interior included with the car. You can expect a fresh set of 20-inch alloy wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes, a new adaptive aerodynamics package, as well as massaging Nappa leather seats inside (one-piece AMG Performance bucket seats are an option too).

At the time of writing, the price tag of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance has yet to be confirmed, as does its anticipated arrival date in Australia.
