Apple
With a market capitalisation in excess of US$2 trillion, Apple is the largest tech company in the world and a dominant force in modern society. Founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne as Apple Computer Co., the brand started out as a large manufacturer of personal computers and competed directly with Microsoft.
After the launch of the iPod in 2001, Apple moved away from predominantly personal computers and started shifting towards other categories in consumer tech. From there, the first generation iPhone launched in 2007 and has since positioned Apple as the world’s leading manufacturer of smartphones.
Headquartered out of Cupertino, California, Apple stands as a market-leader and its current CEO is Tim Cook.
Popular series that keep Apple front-of-mind for tech consumers are the iPhone, Apple Watch, Airpods and Macbook.
