Months after receiving hard confirmation that a remastered edition of GoldenEye 007 was coming to both Nintendo Switch Online and Xbox Game Pass, we can enjoy the same glorious split screen gameplay that won millions of hearts in the late 90s/early 00s, along with an exclusive multiplayer for those who have declared for Team Nintendo (tough luck, Xbox fanboys).

“The original experience has been updated with improved control options – including dual analogue stick support,” teased developer Rare.
“Native 16:9 resolution up to 4K Ultra HD (where supported), a consistent refresh rate, and a full complement of achievements to unlock.”
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, of course, is only available through a $60 subscription fee here in Australia. A pretty reasonable price for elite-level nostalgia gaming, if you ask me.

To make up for the heartbreaking lack of multiplayer action, however, Rare noted players who own Rare Replay on Xbox Game Pass – the 30-game compilation of classics from the award-winning studio behind the original GoldenEye 007 – will also be able to cop the forthcoming remaster free of charge. So there’s a trade off.
