Warner Bros. Games has good reason to celebrate this month as its latest title, Hogwarts Legacy, has managed to rake in around US$850 (AU$1.2 billion) in just two weeks. And while this is nowhere near the record-smashing take Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 put up just a few months ago, at AU$1.2 billion in just three days, the Hogwarts Legacy sales are certainly impressive.
Hogwarts Legacy, which many describe as Grand Theft Auto for Harry Potter fans has easily made its mark on the gaming industry and will go down as one of the biggest releases of 2023. A year, mind you, that is packed full of highly-anticipated titles including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (May), Starfield (release date TBC) and Diablo IV (June).

As Variety reports, the action role-playing game based around the Harry Potter universe is now the biggest global launch ever for Warners Bros. Games. With the game released across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, the numbers have been unseasonably strong for the title, to the point where a sequel is pretty much a given.
The success has also spilled into the wider Harry Potter world, with global franchise engagement with Wizarding World Digital up 300% over the normal monthly unique visitor average for the first 10 days of February.
