Juventus Ditch FIFA, Signing An Exclusive Deal With Pro Evolution Soccer

— Updated on 30 July 2021

Video game developer Konami has pulled off a major coup by signing Italian football giants Juventus to an exclusive contract for their upcoming gaming title EFootball PES 2020, formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer.

The partnership between Konami and Juventus means the upcoming PES 2020 will be the only football game to feature a fully licensed version of the Italian side and its players. The 17 players, including Cristiano Ronaldo and club legend Pavel Nedved, will have their likeness added to the successful franchise for the first time.

Jonas Lygaard, Senior Director of Brand and Business Development at Konami Digital Entertainment, said: “Our comprehensive partnership with Juventus FC, one of the greatest teams in the world, is a clear statement of intent for EFootball PES 2020 – the only console game where you can play as the Italian giants.”

This is a huge blow to rivals EA Sports, whose FIFA 19 featured Juventus star Ronaldo on the cover. Juventus will be replaced by Piemonte Calcio in FIFA 20, with the new team featuring a custom badge and kit with new player names. While sure to disappoint fans of the Turin-based club, the players’ stats and rankings in FIFA 20 will continue to be updated like every other player in the game.

EFootball PES 2020 is set for release September 10, but until then check out the official launch trailer for the title below.
