Fortnite… Call of Duty: Warzone… Valorant, and as of right now, Hyper Scape. In 2020, there’s certainly no shortage of battle royale games. But given Ubisoft has just offered this exciting new free-to-play release for open beta access, I don’t think anyone will really mind the market saturation.

In 2054, the world’s fictional trajectory resembles our very own. Futurism at breakneck speeds. Not enough resources to go around. Widespread suffering – you get the gist. To distract the masses, a population-wide competition promising life-changing rewards is established. The corporation behind this very competition, however, seems to be harbouring some ulterior motives. As corporations often do…

The bare-bone structure of Hyper Scape’s in-game experience is fairly similar to every other battle royale release out there. Get to the safe zone, don’t get shot, and try to be the last one standing. The point of difference? How much emphasis there is on urban landscapes and “looting abilities”:

100% Urban Battle Royale
“Explore Neo Arcadia’s streets and rooftops for intense firefights, cat-and-mouse chases, and unprecedented verticality.”

Loot Your Abilities
“Solo or in a squad, in the streets or on rooftops, loot unique weapons and rule-bending Hacks to define your play-style.”

A Shifting Battleground
“Escape the Decay that dissolves city districts. Adapt to random game-changing effects. Fight to be the last one standing, or take the Crown and claim victory.”

An Ever-Evolving Experience
“A steady flow of customisation options, new gameplay opportunities, and map changes keep the action fresh, season after season.”

As if a free-to-play experience of this calibre wasn’t enough of a draw, a dedicated server for Aussie games has just been launched. Meaning next to no ping and smoother overall sessions. What more could you ask for, really?

Hyper Scape is now available to play for free on PC. As for consoles such as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and beyond – Ubisoft plans to roll out the new battle royale at a later date.
