- LEGO has announced a special range of official Formula 1-inspired wearable gear and accessories, which includes everything from a phone case and headset, to glasses.
- The collection is also a little more interactive than your typical LEGO set: sequential lights, movable pistons, and all.
- Currently, thereโs no word on when LEGO will make this publicly available (nor what the retail price will be).
For the LEGO-enthused F1 fans out there whoโve already stacked their shelves with race car models (or even found space for the full-sized version), the two companies have recently come together for a not-so-typical collaboration.
Debuted ahead of last weekendโs Chinese Grand Prix, this must-have lineup arrives under LEGOโs โBuild The Thrillโ banner; and looks to put you alongside the drivers in the team garage. At least in spirit.
One key highlight โ purely because practical concerns donโt get in the way of the fun โ is the F1 steering wheel phone case, featuring a dozen or so colourful buttons and dials. Weโre pretty sure none of them has any real function, but it neatly integrates an iPhone as the information screen and makes for a head-turning accessory; though donโt expect any drop protection.
Another winner from this collection โ and one that resembles Boba Fettโs jetpack โ is the Technic Backpack, which incorporates a massive LEGO model of Red Bull Racingโs RB20 F1 Car, complete with rotating wheels and light-up indicators.
Thereโs also the Speed Champions Ita-bag that comes with a few different sling straps and is designed to house a model of the LEGO McLaren F1ยฎ Team MCL38 Race Car.
The last one weโll mention is the Starting Light Goggles, offering F1 fans a pair of oversized square frames with miniature start lights bolted along the top. Whatโs particularly cool about these is the tyres on the sides of the frames which, if rotated, activates the sequential starting lights above your eyes.
As of this moment, thereโs zero word on when LEGO will make this โBuild The Thrillโ collection publicly available or whether itโs simply a design project. But itโs certainly another exciting collaboration between LEGO and F1 that we can get around.
Keep an eye out for updates below.
