Hollywood sure loves the continuation of its classic franchises. The latest of which that is being given a second life? None other than the wholesome stoner-comedy-opera, Bill & Ted. Entitled Bill & Ted Face The Music, this third instalment will have cameras rolling by January 10th 2019. So expect to see it hit cinemas sometime in 2020, if all goes smoothly that is.

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are set to make a return, the original stars having “… campaigned with screenwriters and creators…”, Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson, in order to “… kickstart progress…” on this new project. There have even been reports hinting that Steven Sodenbergh (Oceans Trilogy, Magic Mike, Logan Lucky) will also be having a hand in the making of this potential classic.

Dean Parisot has signed on as the current director. Previous works helmed by Mr Parisot you may be familiar with include Galaxy Quest, Fun With Dick & Jane, and Red 2. So you can rest easy knowing silly is well within his repertoire.

“We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again,” says Reeves and Winter.

“Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team!”

Reeves is currently finishing off the highly-anticipated John Wick: Chapter 3, polishing off yet another trilogy for the seasoned franchise actor. It’ll be more than a little interesting to see him return to his goofy, comedic roots given the years since. A pleasant sort of tonal shift from the more serious projects audiences have become more accustomed to seeing him take on.

“The whole trajectory of getting the next one off the ground has been pretty much exactly like the experience of getting the original,” says Winter.

“Going to every studio, and they’re like, ‘What the eff is this?’ It’s this kind of independent spirit, and the films have an anachronistic quality to them that’s a big part of what they are, fundamentally.”

“It doesn’t feel like some stale knockoff that a studio would have immediately gone, ‘Oh, this feels right,” Winter goes on to add.

“We have re-branded very successfully.'”

Solomon has stated that elements of the script will see the middle-aged Bill & Ted revisiting events of the first film. Such as watching their interactions outside of the Circle K.

Bill & Ted Face the Music is to be “… the thrilling conclusion to the duo’s bogus journey…”.
