Nicolas Cage is a living-breathing phenomenon understood by few and yet appreciated by countless. Across his 40-year career, the shamanistic thespian with an unparalleled love for the game – and up until recently, a mountain of debts, hence the direct-to-video releases – has gifted the world with a collection of unforgettable performances. Performances that simultaneously enchant and bewilder. And performances re-entering the spotlight for a 13-week celebration aptly dubbed Calendar of Cage, hosted by Sydney’s own Palace Encore.
“Palace Encore presents the Calendar of Cage – a retrospective series that delves into an eccentrically eclectic body of work that no other modern actor could hope to claim,” states Palace Encore.
“Calendar of Cage reveals the restless, try-anything, break-all-rules artistic genius that is Nicolas Cage, featuring some of his finest and most wonderfully unhinged performances.”

The mother of all film festivals has already kicked things off with a special preview screening of his latest masterpiece – The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent – “showcasing a premium-aged Cage in all his glory.” Thankfully, those of you only getting in on the action right about now haven’t missed too much.
In the weeks following, you’ll be offered the opportunity to revisit Nicky C’s more serious classics such as Leaving Las Vegas (which earned the man an Academy Award), Michael Bay’s The Rock (which earned the man our hearts), as well as the meme-rich National Treasure. Our only criticism? A disturbing lack of Lord of War, Con Air, Matchstick Men, The Wicker Man, and Face/Off.
