The next instalment of the reinvigorated Thor film series, Thor: Love and Thunder, has just secured its big-name villain.
Where the Asgardian God of Thunder once faced the likes of Christopher Eccleston and Cate Blanchett, he will now find a nemesis in Christian Bale. Because apparently, only actors with names starting in ‘C’ can be a Thor villain.
The news was broken by Tessa Thompson herself in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Thor: Love and Thunder looks to be shaping up as yet another mammoth addition to the growing cinematic oeuvre of Marvel Studios.
In addition to Bale as the unspecified villain, Thompson making her return as the newly crowned King Valkyrie, both Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman will be reprising their respective roles as Thor Odinson and Jane Foster. But with a twist.
It was revealed during San Diego Comic-Con 2019 that Portman would be also portraying her character taking the Thor mantle – as depicted in a certain run of the comics. So there’s that to look forward to.
Powerhouse creative, Taika Waititi, will also be reassuming the position. That position being writer and director of this upcoming production, which is greatly reassuring given Waititi’s inability to miss in recent times. Or ever, for that matter.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled for international release November the 5th of 2021.
