Back in 2021, before the third act of GameStop’s dramatic saga had even begun to unfold, both Netflix and MGM announced the development of rival GameStop movies depicting the epic battle between retail investors and Wall Street. Today, the latter’s project — an adaptation of The Antisocial Network by acclaimed author Ben Mezrich, now titled Dumb Money — has unveiled its first official trailer.
The biographical dramedy has been directed by Australia’s own Craig Gillespie, who you may have encountered through Lars & The Real Girl, I, Tonya, as well as the live-action Disney flick Cruella.
In front of the camera, you can expect everyone from Paul Dano as Keith Gill (AKA Roaring Kitty; u/DeepFuckingValue), Pete Davidson as Keith’s brother Kevin, Shailene Woodley as Keith’s wife Caroline, and Sebastian Stan as Robinhood Founder & CEO Vlad Tenev; to Vincent D’Onofrio, Nick Offerman, and Seth Rogen as notable hedge fund managers Steve Cohen, Kenneth C. Griffin, and Gabe Plotkin, respectively.

This marks something of a reunion between Stan and Gillespie post-I, Tonya; plus Stan and Rogen post-Pam & Tommy.
As we’ve previously reported, the screen rights to Mezrich’s The Antisocial Network was successfully acquired by MGM before it had even been completed, punctuating an all-out bidding war that quietly raged on in the background.
How incomplete are we talking? Nothing beyond a mere proposal had been submitted before the Amazon-owned studio decided to cut a cheque.

- The Accidental Billionaires — which was later adapted by David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin into The Social Network, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Armie Hammer.
- Bringing Down The House — which was later adapted by Robert Luketic into 21, starring Kevin Spacey, Jim Sturgess, and Kate Bosworth.
- As well as Bitcoin Billionaires — the follow-up to The Accidental Billionaires / The Social Network detailing Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss’ “redemption” via the eponymous cryptocurrency, which is also being adapted for the big screens as we speak.

The Antisocial Network has been adapted for screens by Rebecca Angelo (Orange Is The New Black) and Lauren Schuker Blum (also Orange Is The New Black), who also produced alongside Aaron Ryder of Ryder Picture Company, Teddy Schwarzman of Black Bear, and director Craig Gillespie himself.
