HBO, the undisputed leader in cable television programming, have teamed up with legendary film director Martin Scorcese and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger to bring us their latest offering, Vinyl.
Exploring the music scene of 1970s New York and as with a fair few Scorsese flicks – Goodfellas, Wolf of Wall Street, etc – Vinyl follows the lifestyle of an overindulgent, self-centred character – Bobby Cannavale’s Richie Finestra – as he attempts to resurrect his record label American Century.
Scorsese will direct the show, with a script penned by Boardwalk Empire‘s Terence Winter and Breaking Bad‘s George Mastras. All three will also be executive producing, alongside Victoria Pearman, Rick Yorn, Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Jagger, who conceived the idea.
Vinyl will air this January on HBO and needless to say this is one we cannot wait for.
