Kicks: Sneaker Violence Gets Its Own Film

— Updated on 2 August 2021

Sneaker crime is something that’s becoming reality for the American youth of today. The sneaker scene has evolved into a multi million dollar industry and like all flourishing trades, now comes with heightened notoriety.

Kicks, the new film co-written and directed by first time filmmaker Justin Tipping, tells the story of 15 year old Brandon (Jahking Guillory), whose hard earned kicks, the classic ‘Bred’ Air Jordan 1’s get stolen from him by a group of older teens. In an effort to retrieve them, Brandon enlists the help off his two buddies and they embark on a dangerous mission across the Bay Area.

The plot is based on Tipping’s real life experience after his pair of white Nike Air Presto was stolen.

An epic hip hop soundtrack backs this gritty film and some upcoming stars including Christopher Jordan “C.J.” Wallace, the son of the late Notorious B.I.G and singer Faith Evans, make this urban feature one to watch.
