- Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton engage in a battle of wits in the forthcoming Netflix thriller Carry On (which now has a teaser trailer).
- The feature-length streamer project represents one of several collaborations with Bateman, who notably starred in and produced Netflix’s hit series Ozark.
- Netflix’s Carry On release date: December 13th, 2024.
Between the celebrated run of Ozark and what’s currently on the burner, Jason Bateman has enjoyed a fruitful partnership with Netflix — one that’s now yielded a Die Hard-style Christmas thriller in Carry On, which he co-stars in alongside Taron Egerton (Kingsman, Rocket Man).

The film follows an inexperienced TSA agent named Ethan Kopek (Egerton), who finds himself in a battle of wits with a mysterious traveller (Bateman); the latter of whom blackmails him into allowing a dangerous package onto a flight during Christmas Eve.
The duo are joined by Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Sinqua Walls, Logan Marshall-Green, Theo Rossi, Josh Brener, and Breaking Bad alum Dean Norris.
Carry On has been helmed by director Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, Jungle Cruise, Black Adam) and penned by Insomniac Games scribe TJ Fixman of Ratchet & Clank fame; along with story revisions accomplished by Michael Green, who has slightly more experience with traditional cinema given he’s written the likes of Logan, Blade Runner 2049, as well as Collet-Serra’s Jungle Cruise.

In terms of the other Netflix collaborations Mr Bateman has on the way, as alluded to earlier, here are the three we’re most excited about:
- Black Rabbit
Essentially Succession meets The Bear; a drama centred on the owner of a New York City hotspot, Jake Friedken (Jude Law), who inadvertently opens the door to “escalating dangers” that threaten to bring down everything he’s built when he re-welcomes his chaotic brother Vince (Bateman) back into his life.
Jason Bateman stars and directs. - Daddy Ball
A Beef-style limited series based on David Gauvey Herbert’s 2021 Esquire magazine article of the same name; a seemingly innocuous Little League baseball grudge between Bobby Sanfilippo and John Reardon takes on an entire life of its own with claims of stalking, corrupt cops, and even — get this — mob connections.
Jason Bateman stars and directs. - Dark Wire
Adapted from the yet-to-be-published book of the same name by Vice Motherboard journalist Joseph Cox, it’ll uncover the true story of how the FBI established a fake telecommunications company, and eventually became the phone service provider to the world’s most notorious gangs.
Jason Bateman directs.
Given the holiday theme, Carry On is scheduled to hit Netflix on December 13th, 2024 — check out the teaser trailer above.
