Despite the backlash he incurred last October, Netflix can’t seem to get enough of Dave Chappelle (a la Joe Rogan and Spotify). In late 2021, the “controversial” stand-up comic wrapped up his insanely lucrative six-special package with The Closer. This year, he’ll be executive producing and hosting a fresh batch of Netflix comedy specials entitled Chappelle’s Home Team.
While the forthcoming releases have been billed as “Dave Chappelle comedy specials,” he won’t be the sole focus of Chappelle’s Home Team. Nor will he be the focal point. Instead, each instalment will feature a different comic handpicked and introduced by Chappelle – although we can still expect the odd one-liner.
The first metaphorical cab off the equally metaphorical rank will be none other than The Neighbourhood actor and host of Quakeshouse radio show, Earthquake (real name: Nathaniel Martin Stroman), whose special Earthquake: Legendary premieres later this month on Februay 28th.

Another special will spotlight veteran Chappelle collaborator, Donnell Rawlings, who was a key player in the legendary Chappelle’s Show. The last two talents, however, have yet to be announced. According to The Hollywood Reporter, all comedians involved have been in the stand-up game “for at least 30 years.” So don’t expect any fresh faces.
“I’ve been doing this a long time and comedians like Quake and Donnell are not only friends but have inspired my own career,” says Dave Chappelle.
“Anyone in the comedy community knows these names and knows their time to shine is long overdue. I am proud to be a part of this moment.”
Chappelle’s Home Team has been directed by Dave Chappelle’s go-to guy, Stan Lathan, who’ll also executive produce alongside Earthquake, Rikki Hughes, Jermaine Smith, as well as Chappelle himself.
In addition to all this, Dave Chappelle is scheduled to headline a performance at the Hollywood Bowl for Netflix’s Los Angeles-based comedy festival, Netflix is a Joke, which kicks off on April 28th of 2022.
As for the matter of a release date, as previously mentioned, Chappelle’s Home Team will be available to stream on Netflix from February 28th of 2022.
