- It’s been a long and winding road for Havoc, directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid, Gangs of London) and starring Tom Hardy, but the ultra-violent action flick is finally hitting Netflix this year.
- The streaming giant has, after much waiting, dropped an extremely fast-paced first trailer ahead of its forthcoming premiere.

Back in 2021, The Raid franchise director, Gangs of London co-creator, and action auteur – Gareth Evans – inked a contract to craft thrilling content for Netflix. The first project from this partnership was Havoc starring Tom Hardy.
Immediately, we were sold on the premise. As per the official synopsis: after a drug deal goes awry, Detective Walker (Hardy) must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while “untangling his city’s dark web of conspiracy and corruption.”

Coupled with the fact this was being helmed by an action director as immensely talented as Evans with a stoic leading man as magnetic as Hardy (who also signed on to produce) – and the fact we’d soon be able to stream it immediately from the comfort of our homes – suffice it to say, Havoc had all the key indicators of a sure-fire hit.
But similar to another much-hyped project that we’d been writing about for years before it finally saw the light of day, despite having wrapped principal production in Wales within the same year it was announced – October 22nd, 2021, to be exact – Netflix’s Havoc still didn’t have a release date. Of course, that all changed this week…
Delay After Delay After Delay
Timing is everything, and let’s just say between the odd bout of COVID-19, the industry strikes of 2023 (which also impacted promotional tours), and the undoubtedly packed schedules of the cast members (beyond Tom Hardy alone), it hasn’t been smooth sailing.
At the opening of 2024, Gareth Evans revealed Havoc required some reshoots which were delayed by a combination of the above via Instagram story. But by all accounts, it’s currently on track to slot in these new scenes and premiere on Netflix this April.

Netflix’s Havoc Release Date (Australia & International)
Netflix’s Havoc starring Tom Hardy finally has a confirmed release date: April 25th, 2025.
Hardy has been joined by the likes of Xelia Mendes-Jones, Forest Whitaker, Timothy Olyphant, Justin Cornwell, Jessie Mei Li, Yeo Yann Yann, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Sunny Pang, Richard Pepper, Tony Parker, as well as UFC strawweight Michelle Waterson.
Havoc marks the second official collaboration between Gareth Evans and Netflix. In 2018, the Welsh filmmaker produced the folk horror Apostle starring Dan Stevens, Michael Sheen, and Lucy Boynton for the streaming platform. Also shot entirely in Wales, Evans’ unofficial audition tape for the crimson N’s talent stable followed a man who attempts to recuse his sister from a sinister religious cult.
Between this and MobLand (formerly The Associate) – the Paramount+ crime series created by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy, The Day of the Jackal) and directed by Guy Ritchie – 2025 is shaping up to be the year of Tom Hardy.
