The only colour that should be recognised in business is the colour of money. But there was a time where the melanin present in your skin held you back by a ridiculous degree. Even more so than it does in the present day.
Based on a true story, The Banker stars Samuel L. Jackson and Anthony Mackie as African-American entrepreneurs, Joe Morries and Bernard Garrett. The film will depict the two in their daring efforts to circumvent the legally enforced racial limitations of 1950’s Los Angeles. A major part of which involves recruiting working-class white man, Matt Steiner (portrayed by Nicholas Hoult), and grooming him to be the face of their operation – dealing with the upper-class gatekeepers firsthand.
The Banker will be directed by George Nolfi, who is best known for penning screenplays such as The Bourne Ultimatum, The Adjustment Bureau, and Ocean’s Twelve (though don’t let that last one discourage you). Joining Jackson, Mackie, and Hoult will be Nia Long, Michael Harney, and Colm Meaney.
The Banker will have a limited theatrical release on December 6 of this year before a wider digital release on Apple TV+ in January 2020.
