Set to be the hero of the upcoming Disney+ launch in November, Star Wars spinoff The Mandalorian has received its first trailer over the weekend.
The first proper look at the television series was revealed at D23 in Anaheim, Los Angeles, on Friday, confirming what many assumed would be a grittier and darker take on a recently very light-hearted, amusing influence by Disney on the fantasy film franchise.
Hereโs what we know:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. โThe Mandalorianโ is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
Jon Favreau (Tony Starkโs sidekick and no stranger to the Disney/MCU clan) is showrunner, while Narcosโ Pedro Pascal joins him on screen.
This side of the Star Wars franchise has always held onto the potential to be dark and serious, and we canโt bloody wait. If the trailer is showing a guy getting chopped in half by a door, we can only hope that thereโll be nothing โDisneyโ about The Mandalorian.
The eight episodes of the first season will drop on November 12 to coincide with the launch of Disney+. Watch the trailer below.
