As the latest Hollywood “it” boy, Timothee Chalamet has been steadily following in the footsteps of James Dean, River Phoenix, and of course, Leonardo DiCaprio.

The 26-year-old thespian of Call Me By Your Name and Dune fame even experienced something of a full-circle moment when he shared a screen with the latter of his predecessors in Adam McKay’s satirical comedy Don’t Look Up.

But prior to this collaboration on the sound stages of Netflix, Leonardo DiCaprio

offered Timothee Chalamet some pretty direct guidance during their first encounter back in 2018 (which British Vogue describes as a moment of “near-literal baton passing”).

The Career Advice Leonardo DiCaprio Gave Timothee Chalamet

“One of my heroes – I can’t say who or he’d kick my ass – he put his arm around me the first night we met and gave me some advice,” said Timothee Chalamet.

“No hard drugs and no superhero movies.”

Can’t really fault him for that one.

As we’ve previously noted, Chalamet’s career trajectory has been remarkably similar to that of young DiCaprio. To the point where you can actually break down the distinct beats – check it out below:
