Clear the runway. Because six long months after storming international theatres, Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise and Miles Teller is hitting Paramount+ to park up in those stacked streaming queues.

While the undisputed #1 blockbuster of 2022 has been available to stream for some time now through video-on-demand on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, now, you’ll be able to relive the epic thrills of Joseph Kosinski’s sequel without having to fork out any extra dosh on top of your Paramount+ subscription.

BH’s official position on the flick is no secret, especially considering the fact we characterised the entire experience as “the most fun you’ll have in cinemas this year“; though it certainly isn’t without a few flaws.

But it’s safe to say watching Cruise’s eponymous fighter pilot sustain however many Gs while inverting over a snowcapped mountain will serve as the perfect mindless escapism we all seek after a rigorous session of Christmas consumption – both in terms of food and beverages – and well beyond Silly Season.

The synopsis for those who’ve yet to experience Top Gun: Maverick is as follows:

After more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialised mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw AKA “Goose.”

The screenplay has been penned by Justin Marks (The Jungle Book), Peter Craig (The Hunger Games), Eric Warren Singer (American Hustle), as well as longtime Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie (the most recent Mission Impossible films, Edge of Tomorrow).
