A good movie trailer will raise questions. But then there are movie trailers that raise the wrong kind of questions. Like, “Who approved this?”; “This really needs a feature-length cut?”; and most pertinently, “Who does Russell Crowe owe money?”. Case in point, the first teaser for Unhinged.
I’m seriously wondering who the fuck greenlit this. The entire film – and I really mean the entire film – involves Russell Crowe hunting down a divorced mother and her kid after she honked at him in traffic. As you’ll see in the trailer below, this same mother is then offered a chance to apologise but curtly refuses. From there, things… escalate.
At this point, you’re probably sceptical about the accuracy of what I’ve told you. Rest assured, that’s really all there is to it. This isn’t a reductive explanation for comedic effect, or even me being blunt for the sake of being blunt – a whole ass US$33 million production revolved around this concept alone.

Unhinged has been directed by Derrick Borte (The Joneses) and written by Carl Ellsworth (Disturbia, Red Dawn). Joining Crowe will be Caren Pistorius, Gabriel Bateman, and Jimmi Simpson. As of now, it’s scheduled to release on July 10th – slowly rolling out thereafter depending on when international theatres open back up again.
