It’s often hard to imagine iconic roles in cinema being fulfilled by anyone other than the actors we’ve come to know. Arguably, the actors themselves are as equally iconic to the role itself. But it’s always fun to imagine what the role could have been under the grasp of someone else.
Some memorable casting close calls include Will Smith playing Neo in The Matrix instead of Keanu Reeves, Nicholas Cage as Superman in the abandoned Tim Burton helmed Superman Lives project, and the world almost witnessed Leonardo DiCaprio trying to get a reservation at Dorsia as Patrick Bateman, before we were eventually blessed with Christian Bale in American Psycho.
Enter Ross Marquand, an actor best known for his work in The Walking Dead, and an accomplished impersonator. Before Marquand became famous on TV, he was famed for being extremely accurate in the art of mimickery. A talent he has since proven time and time again.
In the clip below, watch as he “remixes” classic castings with actors we could have never conceived of giving a shot.
