Creed II has just received a second trailer, and it seems to be coming for far more than critical acclaim and nostalgia points. With true iron-pumping grit and seething intergenerational vengeance on full display, we may very well be witnessing sports-action cinematic history in the making.
The story will continue to follow Adonis Johnson/Creed (portrayed by Michael B. Jordan) as he navigates the world of professional boxing, grapples with the legacy of a father he never knew, and yes, broods about identity between training/fight montages.
This time, Adonis will be confronting the death of Apollo Creed pretty head-on, as he faces off against a younger Drago… from the very same dynasty of Dragos responsible for Apollo Creed’s death back in Rocky IV. Also, there’s a baby involved, or whatever…
Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren will both be reprising their iconic roles as Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago, joined by a returning Tessa Thompson as Bianca, and Florain Munteanu as the young Drago, Viktor. OGs never die.
