Despite the popularity of streaming services, people are still heading to the cinema in droves. It seems our choices, however, don’t always align with what the critics think. The past two decades have seen many hugely anticipated blockbuster films savaged by critics, yet go on to make billions of dollars at the box office.
To demonstrate how critics views don’t necessarily mean that much to the average joe, here’s a look at the worst reviewed film of every year since 2000 (according to Rotten Tomatoes) that was also a top 10 grossing box office smash.
The results are rather surprising (Bad Boys II doesn’t deserve to be on this list), with most fans disagreeing with critics and giving these films higher scores, although I’m glad everyone agrees The Smurfs is a horrible flick.
