In a departure from his usual social media silence, Jay Z recently emerged from the shadows to drop a slightly confusing series of tweets. Contained within them were praises for his peers, queries about the functions of Twitter and a congratulatory induction video from former U.S. President Barack Obama. This was all to do with Hov’s induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, which went down on Thursday night.

The now deleted video from Obama is particularly awesome, with the former commander in chief dishing out some details about his relationship with the legendary Brooklyn rapper/businessman.
“I like to think Mr. Carter and I understand each other, nobody who met us as younger men would have expected us to be where we are today. We know what it’s like not to have a father around, we know what it’s like not to come from much, and to know people who didn’t get the same breaks that we did.”
