Cancel that trip to New York. You might want to re-route your end-of-year plans because Finnish DJ, record producer and meme Darude is coming all the way from Helsinki to Australia to play ‘Sandstorm’ in some parks and pubs. Including a New Year’s Eve festival in Perth and a very forgettable hotel in Parramatta.

The veteran EDM DJ, known primarily for his volcanic clash of schlocky Eurodance and Mountain Dew-flavoured techno, has announced he will be one of the big draws at Snack Festival, which takes place at Claremont Showground on January 31. And he will be building a full Australian tour around that, with plans to stop everywhere from Bondi Beach and Parramatta to Geelong and Northcote. Hell, the Hans Zimmer of 90s Eurodance will even be bringing his wares to a New Year’s Day foam party in Brendale, Queensland. Very cool.

‘Sandstorm,’ the musical equivalent of Guy Fieri, has proven to be quite the timeless tune as it serves as a relic of 90s commercial techno. Given it’s not only his signature song but also one of those forever memes that never goes away, he’s bound to make a big occasion out of the coveted drop along with a trail of his other productions.

Tickets to see him in Bondi Beach and Adelaide already appear to be, unsurprisingly, sold out. But he’s got six other Australian shows on the cards from Thursday, December 22nd, when he kicks off his Australian tour in Darwin, to New Year’s Day when he plays two shows – that aforementioned foam party in Brendale and a stint at food truck park Welcome To Thornbury in Northcote.
