You’ve already got at least 4 monthly subscriptions to Australia’s best streaming services, is one more really going to hurt? If that answer is no then swiftly direct your attention towards Paramount Plus Australia, which officially launched this week after months of building up anticipation for its steep mountain of content. While Paramount+ debuted in the US earlier this year, we had to wait a while for the new streaming service to join the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, Stan, and Binge.

Paramount Plus has arrived to replace 10 All Access, set at a reasonable monthly price of $8.99, or $89.99 for an annual subscription. Even though 10 All Access was largely seen as a failure, it’s looking like this new takeover by ViacomCBS, the owners of Paramount+, will pick up things up dramatically. As the months roll on, the streaming platform will be getting a bunch of genuinely exciting new exclusives, including the revamped series of Dexter, Mark Wahlberg project Infinite, and a miniseries detailing producer Al Ruddy’s experience in creating The Godfather.

The all-stock merger of Viacom and CBS back in 2019 is what gave birth to the idea for Paramount Plus, with the goal of bringing the various brands under both companies together to form a worthy Netflix competitor. Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Showtime, MTV, and of course Paramount Pictures are some of the more notable properties, meaning Paramount Plus Australia should be rife with existing content and classics to bolster the offering.

If you’re keen on signing up, take stock of our complete guide to the new Australian streaming service. You can decide for yourself if it’s worth that $8.99 monthly subscription fee.

How To Get Paramount Plus Australia: Compatible Devices

As mentioned above, Paramount Plus Australia replaces to existing 10 All Access. Subscriptions rollover, so whoever had access to 10 All Access before can now use their log in details to access Paramount Plus Australia.

A common problem with some newer streaming services is the amount of compatible devices it is available on. For example, good luck finding Binge on Android TV; it’s just not there yet, meaning your Samsung TV or LG TV won’t be compatible. Paramount Plus Australia has clearly focused on fixing similar issues upon launch, and so far the app is available on PC and Mac, iOS and Android devices, Apple TV, Android TV (Sony Bravia), Chromecast, Fetch TV, Telstra TV, and Amazon Fire TV.

Note that various coupon codes usually pop up online once a new streaming service works. For the most part, these will be fake and not worth using. So if you do find a Paramount Plus coupon code, approach with caution.

How Much Does Paramount Plus Cost & Is There A Free Trial?

You bet there is a Paramount Plus free trial. Although it’s not as generous as the 30-day free trial you can expect from competing services. New subscribers only have a week to browse the app without any monetary commitment. After that, you either fork out the $8.99 per month or pony up the $89.99 annual fee.

Unlike in the US, a less expensive, packed-with-ads option is not available. Any of the prices above give you full access to Paramount+ content, completely ad-free, with the option to download content for offline viewing.

Given Paramount Plus Australia hinges a lot of its value on sports, particularly football streaming rights, there are a number of other ways you can get access to Paramount Plus on the cheap. Most A-League clubs are currently offering discounts on subscriptions as part of their individual membership deals, running between $60 and $75 for a yearly subscription to Paramount+ Australia.

Similarly, Melbourne Victory has got a discount for Paramount Plus for their fans, with a $60 yearly subscription offer. That will save you $47.88 across the entire year, making this the most cost effective way to access Paramount+ in Australia.

Central Coast Mariners are only slightly less generous with their yearly subscription offering, sporting the same deal as above but for $70. Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers take the same approach, but bump that up to $75 per year.

Western United has also incorporated a yearly subscription to Paramount Plus Australia as part of their lure for new and renewing members. It’s free too, so anyone who joins the club gets a 12-month Paramount+ subscription as part of their packages, at no extra cost.

What Can I Watch On Paramount Plus Australia?

In addition to all the content that is already available on 10 All Access, Paramount+ is going to have an attractive and diverse line-up of blockbusters, classic TV shows, exclusive TV shows, and more.

Paramount’s catalogue of movies run pretty deep, and comprises some of the most iconic film franchises in cinematic history. This includes the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Mission Impossible, Transformers, and Indiana Jones. There’s others too, like The Godfather, Beverly Hills Cop, Scream, Meet The Parents, and Paranormal Activity.

In terms of TV shows, you can expect the likes of South Park, Broad City, the iCarly reboot, Dexter, NCIS, and the worst sitcom of all time, The Big Bang Theory.

A recent press release from Paramount Plus claims that over 20,000 TV shows episodes and blockbuster movies will be rolling out on the platform over the next few months. That seems like quite a lot, especially when compared to current streaming services, and may lead to too much choice anxiety. Regardless, take a look at some of the below headliners across movies, TV, sport, exclusives, and upcoming. There’s plenty of reasons to get a Paramount+ subscription.

The Biggest Drawcards For Paramount+

Given the way the market is structured now, the biggest drawcard for any streaming service is always going to be original content and exclusive content. Seeing as ViacomCBS is such a beast in the entertainment industry, expect a lot of their existing properties to disappear from other streaming services over the next year as various contracts expire. This will then give Paramount+ a serious foothold in the Australian streaming market.

But the most interesting is always going to be original content, and for the following few months that’s going to include the new Dexter series, a reboot of Fraiser, and a new Halo TV series.

Plus, if Godfather 4 ever ends up actually happening, it very well may be a Paramount+ exclusive.

Boss Hunting will keep you updated if anything new and notable drops for Paramount+, but for now, give the new steaming service a proper welcome below.

Paramount Plus Profiles: How Many Simultaneous Streams?

Paramount Plus Profiles work in pretty much the same way as any other streaming services. What differs is the amount of simultaneous streams you have can have per log in. For Paramount Plus Australia that is up to two simultaneous streams per log in, which limits the amount of password sharing going on in the streaming world.
