Amazon Prime Video has, at long last, dropped the first 007: Road To A Million trailer.

Hosted by Brian Cox (Succession) — the show’s onscreen mastermind or “Controller” — this forthcoming reality competition series has taken 9 pairs of contestants to iconic Bond-related locations all around the world.

From the Scottish Highlands and Venice to Jamaica in pursuit of that titular £1 million ($1.9 million) cash prize, it’s essentially Amazing Race meets the storied spy franchise: hidden questions, tests of mental and physical strength, as well as a whole lot of globetrotting.

“I put real people into a James Bond adventure to win £1 million. The only thing standing in their way is me,” Cox can be heard saying in the teaser.

The project has been in development at Prime Video for over four years, long before Amazon’s $11.5 billion acquisition of MGM was finalised, and “sits separately to any shows that are yet to come out of the pact.” The latter’s ownership of James Bond is, however, believed to be the “driving force” behind the former’s desire to break out Bezos’ war chest.

007: Road To A Million has been produced by Britain’s 72 Films (The Rise of the Murdoch DynastyAll or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur) alongside mythology gatekeepers/franchise custodians/longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, MGM Alternative, as well as Eon.

Before the first season has even had a chance to premiere, the team over at Amazon Prime Video have already decided to re-open casting for season 2.

“We’re now searching for more dynamic duos to jet set across the globe using their wits and general knowledge to answer questions hidden around the world,” reads the 007: Road To A Million casting call.

“You don’t have to be a Bond fan to apply but we are looking for teams of two that are very close in their relationship and who would enjoy an adventure.”

It adds: “Filming is due to take place throughout 2024 and you will be away from home, possibly out of the UK, for short periods.”

007: Road To A Million season 1, on the other hand, premieres on November 10th, 2023 — check out the trailer above.
