The forthcoming miniseries — which has been written and directed by five-time Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men, Gravity, Roma) — follows acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), who has built a career revealing the “misdeeds and transgressions” of others.

But when Catherine receives a book from an unknown author, she’s horrified to discover she is now the main character: in a story that exposes her deepest darkest secrets.

It soon becomes a race to uncover the writer’s true identity; and Catherine is forced to confront her less-than-stellar past before it destroys the life she’s built with husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and their adult son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).

The seven-part affair is based on the best-selling Renee Knight novel of the same name.

Cate Blanchett, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Kodi Smit-McPhee lead an ensemble cast that also includes Kevin Kline, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Squid Game alum and formerly the internet’s crush Jung Ho-yeon; with Indira Varma as series narrator. Leila George and Adam El Hagar feature as the younger versions of Catherine and Robert, respectively.

As for a release date, Disclaimer is scheduled to premiere via Apple TV+ on October 11th, 2024 with two episodes straight out of the gate (and a weekly drop every Friday thereafter until November 15th) — check out the greatest teaser trailer we’ve seen in a long time above.
