The BBC’s most-watched new drama of 2021 returns next month. And as of today, Vigil season 2 has a teaser trailer.

Trading a British Royal Navy submarine for airbases, this brand-new investigation will once again be led by Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and Detective Sergeant Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) — who look to the skies as, they enter the secret world of drone warfare, in pursuit of a killer.

Following multiple deaths at a weapons test in Scotland, Silva and Longacre are tasked with discovering the exact cause; and find themselves entering the closed ranks of the air force in both Scotland and the Middle East. “The pair face the deadly warfare of tomorrow as they fight for their own uncertain future.”

Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie are joined onscreen by Gary Lewis (His Dark Materials, Granite Harbour), who reprises his role as DSU Robertson; Romola Garai (Becoming Elizabeth, The Hour); Dougray Scott (Crime, Enigma), and Amir El-Masry (SAS Rogue Heroes, Limbo).

You can also expect David Elliot (The Liberator, Bulletproof); Chris Jenks (Sex Education, Karen Pirie); Tommy Sim’aan (The Midwich Cuckoos, Doctors); Oscar Salem (House of the Dragon, Des); Jonathan Ajayi (Noughts + Crosses), as well as Hiba Medina in her first major TV debut.

While December 10th has been locked for the BBC1 and BBC iPlayer premiere, Australia’s Binge has yet to confirm a release date. But we can reasonably expect either a simultaneous or next-day premiere.
