Unifying symbol for the MTV generation’s cultural rebellion – Beavis & Butt-Head – is set to be “reimagined” for Gen-Z kids, as well as providing original Gen-X audiences with some much-needed laughter.
With two new seasons ordered by Comedy Central, this upcoming revival will be helmed by original creator and veteran of the serialised comedy format, Mike Judge (King of the Hill, Silicon Valley).
“It seemed like the time was right to get stupid again,” says Judge.
Not only will Judge oversee the seasons’ production, but also write, produce, and reprise his voiceover roles as both Beavis and Butt-Head.

Beavis & Butt-Head made a limited return almost a decade ago in 2011. In this eighth season, the duo resumed satirically taking on the mass culture of reality TV, film, and music videos. One can only imagine what will be within the scope of sniggering mockery in this material-rich climate. What I will say is this… expectations are high for the show which inspired South Park.
In addition to the two new seasons, several “spin-offs and specials” are being considered. As you may recall, Beavis & Butt-Head was the launch platform for yet another cultural phenomenon, Daria – so we may even see the latter’s return. And there’s also the fact that Comedy Central has just picked up a Daria spin-off entitled Jodie, based on Daria’s friend Jodie Landon during her post-college years. Suffice it to say, this particular animated universe is thriving.
