Netflix has answered all your questions about Big Mouth season 4 by dropping the release date and first trailer in one fell swoop. This time around, the gang is hitting summer camp and (personified) anxieties will be aplenty – as will the guest stars, ranging from John Oliver, to Maria Bamford, Zach Galifianakis, and even Seth Rogen.

The series will pick up shortly after where things were left off in Big Mouth season 3 by continuing to explore the core concepts of puberty. As you’ll see in the trailer above, the most prominent addition of Big Mouth season 4 will be Bamford as Tito the Anxiety Mosquito. Despite the change in setting and extra characters, we can still expect a hearty return of so-accurate-it’s-painful moments, the show’s signature NSFW style, as well as a surprising amount of sincerity at the heart of it.

While series co-creator and lead voice talent Nick Kroll will reprise his role(s) alongside John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph, and Jordan Peele – there will be a notable replacement in the main cast. As many of you may recall, in light of current events regarding racial politics and so forth, actress Jenny Slate decided to step down from voicing biracial character Missy Foreman-Greenwald to provide an opportunity for actresses of colour.

“At the start of the show, I reasoned with myself that it was permissible for me to play Missy because her mom is Jewish and white – as am I,” Slate wrote on her Instagram.

“But Missy is also black and black characters on an animated show should be played by black people.”

Slate’s role as Missy Foreman-Greenwald will now be undertaken by comedian Ayo Edebiri, according to the LA Times.

Big Mouth has been steadily collecting award nominations across its three-season run thus far, securing the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance thanks to Maya Rudolph as Connie the Hormone Monstress; and Outstanding Derivative Interactive Program with the Big Mouth Guide To Life. Hence why Netflix has already renewed the animated hit for season 5 and season 6 (the good news that 2020 needed). Well, that and the impressive viewership numbers.

Once again, Big Mouth season 4 currently has a December 4th release date.
