  • Binge subscribers will soon be able to access content directly from Kayo Sports at no extra cost.
  • With Max set for launch in Australia next year and Binge’s access to HBO’s suite of prestige TV still up in the air, this is clearly a play to retain subscribers.
  • Highlighted sports content includes the Big Bash League, NRL, and AFL.

If you’ve been weighing your current streaming subscription options, Binge has just strengthened the case for itself. Subscribers of the Foxtel-owned streaming platform will soon be able to access live and on-demand content from Kayo Sports at no extra cost.

This move seems like a smart play on Foxtel’s part. Now that Warner Bros Discovery has confirmed Max (formerly HBO Max) is set to hit Australian shores sometime in 2025, it’s unclear what will happen to all those HBO shows currently available on Binge. Offering a lot of major sporting content for free is a good reason for subscribers to stick around, both now and if the worst comes to pass.

Binge users can access Kayo content starting with the AFLW Grand Final and WBBL Grand Final, set to take place on November 30th and December 1st.

But, before you get too excited, it doesn’t look like everything on Kayo will be available through Binge.

According to an official release, Binge users will be able to access AFLW, the Big Bash League (both men’s and women’s), Super Netball, the World Surfing League, Women’s Golf (USLPGA, Ladies’ European Tour, AIG Women’s Open), plus all the Kayo Minis for F1.

Binge users will also be able to simulcast the NRL and AFL when next year’s seasons kick off.

Depending on your taste in sports, all your bases might already be covered here. At the very least, it’s a pretty solid deal if you already have a Binge sub. Kayo memberships start at $25 per month, and being able to access a chunk of that content is an impressive price-to-value ratio — especially when you could be paying as little as $10 per month for a basic Binge subscription (sadly that tier isn’t ad-free).

Outside of this Kayo cross-pollination, it was also announced that Binge will be adding more live news channels to its service, including Sky News UK, CNBC, and Fox Sports News.
