Jake Gyllenhaal and writer/director Dan Gilroy are the masters of uncanny and disturbing films. Their 2014 release, Nightcrawler, was eerie, unsettling, and sensational. Now the duo is setting their sights on a pure horror/thriller in Netflix’s Velvet Buzzsaw.

Velvet Buzzsaw takes a curious look into the world of modern art after a series of paintings by a dead artist are discovered. Common with many horror movies, a supernatural force soon steps in and makes the paintings come alive. It’s up to Jake Gyllenhaal’s character, Morf, and his team of art critics to get to the bottom of it all. And hope to stay alive in the process.
