After clinching six of its eight nominated categories at this year’s Golden Globes — including Best Motion Picture (Drama), Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Original Score — Christopher Nolan‘s Oppenheimer has once again separated itself from the pack in 2024 Oscar nominations.

Overshadowing fellow favourites — Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things (11) and Martin Scorsese‘s Killers of the Flower Moon (10) — the Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Matt Damon-led biopic about the father of the atom bomb racked up an impressive 13 nods out of the 23 coveted categories.

As you can imagine, Barbenheimer‘s pinker half hasn’t been viewed with quite the same level of prestige this past award season. Although it has managed to secure eight of its own nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor & Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, as well as notching two for Best Original Song.

It wouldn’t be the silliest idea to bet the house on Greta Gerwig’s meta blockbuster to take home the gilded statuettes for the latter three categories.

The 96th Academy Awards are scheduled to air on March 11th, 2024 here in Australia (and replayed during primetime) — check out the key nominations below.
