- Paramount+ and Showtime appear to have another hit on their hands with The Agency.
- Led by dramatic heavyweights such as Michael Fassbender and Richard Gere, the espionage thriller is based on the French series Le Bureau des Légendes.
- The Agency release date: November 29th, 2024 (via Paramount+).
From Tom Cruise to the entire Taylor Sheridan-verse (including Mr Sheridan himself), if there’s one thing Paramount is doing well right now, it’s attracting talent. Such is the case with its latest espionage thriller series The Agency.
Setting aside its on-screen talent for a moment: the forthcoming drama based on five-season French hit Le Bureau des Légendes has been penned by Jez & John-Henry Butterworth — the veteran scribes behind Fair Game, Edge of Tomorrow, Ford v Ferrari, Spectre, and Nine Perfect Strangers.

It’s also been produced by George Clooney and his longtime collaborator Grant Heslov (The Ides of March, Argo, Wolfs); the former initially signed to juggle directing responsibilities as well before he stepped aside.
But we’d certainly be lying if we said it wasn’t the cast that caught our eye: in addition to the esteemed likes of part-time racing driver Michael Fassbender and Richard Gere, you can also expect the extraordinary Jodie Turner-Smith, serially-underrated character actor Jeffrey Wright, Katherine Waterston, and as only recently revealed, Dominic West of The Wire, The Crown, plus SAS: Rogue Heroes fame.
Other familiar names include John Magaro, Hugh Bonneville, Alex Reznik, Andrew Brooke, Harriet Sansom Harris, and Saura Lightfoot-Leon.
So what exactly have this all-star lineup gathered for?
The Agency is set within the department responsible for training and handling deep-cover CIA operatives on long-term missions; the kind who live under false identities for years to identify and recruit intelligence sources.
