If you weren’t already excited about The Mandalorian season two on Disney+, you’re about to be – because fan favourite character, Ahsoka Tano, has just been confirmed to make an appearance. The thespian tasked with the duty to bring her into the live-action universe? None other than Rosario Dawson.
The character of Ahsoka Tano first appeared as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, before striking out on her own leading into Star Wars: Rebels. Co-created by Dave Filoni – who is currently serving as writer/director/executive producer to The Mandalorian – the crossover was inevitable. Especially so given Filoni has since become the de-facto gatekeeper for this part of the universe.
Eagle-eyed viewers of The Mandalorian may have already anticipated this, given the appearance of the Darksaber in the season finale. The Darksaber was once the property of another Mandalorian warrior by the name of Sabine Wren, who Ahsoka Tano actually accompanied in the journey to locate her friend and series protagonist, Ezra Bridger, during the Rebels timeline.

This confirmation opens an entire world of possibilities, and not just within the confines of The Mandalorian itself. Some are speculating this could in fact be a backdoor pilot of sorts before potentially introducing a spin-off. As former Disney CEO, Bob Iger, stated earlier this year:
“The Mandalorian season two coming in October, and then more coming from The Mandalorian thereafter, including the possibility of – infusing it with more characters and the possibility of taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series.”
Interesting times.
