As drawn out and — at times — shaky Ted Lasso season 3 was, the feel-good Apple TV+ sports comedy (mostly) stuck the landing with what was presumably the final episode: ‘So Long, Farewell.’ But are we on track to receive Ted Lasso season 4?
Months after Nick Mohammed — who portrays AFC Richmond kit man turned assistant coach turned villain Nate Shelley — coyly teased some extremely positive news, we’ve received solid confirmation the series has been officially renewed with Jason Sudeikis returning.
And thanks to a recent episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, we even have early story details.
“I cannot say what that filming is. But it will be announced shortly. In the meantime, I would really appreciate if people just didn’t speculate as to what they think it might be,” Mohammed had said on X (formerly Twitter) while holding up the hand-painted “BELIEVE” sign.
“The last thing I want is for people to be going mad.”
Here’s everything else we know about Ted Lasso season 4 so far.

Has Ted Lasso season 4 been confirmed?
In the immediate wake of the season 3 finale, series creator and leading man Jason Sudeikis quite adamantly told Deadline: “This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell.”
“The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet — that being season three — it’s flattering. Maybe once all episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’”
“But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.”
Co-creators Bill Lawrence previously and Brendan Hunt (AKA Coach Beard), as well as series writer Brett Goldstein (AKA Roy Kent) also echoed similar sentiments during their own interview with the likes of The Hollywood Reporter.
But since then, the game has been changed. On March 14th, 2025, Apple TV+ renewed Ted Lasso for a fourth season with Jason Sudeikis re-committed as lead star and co-creator.
“Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief,” Matt Cherniss, Apple TV+ Head of Programming, expressed via statement.
“Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”

“Jason Sudeikis is the voice, heart, driving factor behind the show; not only professionally, but on a personal level,” co-creator Bill Lawrence had previously stated.
“That’s the dude whose life gets upended and who would be making the biggest sacrifices,. The only sure bet in Hollywood is that nobody involved with Ted Lasso will ever, ever speak about it until Jason makes his decision of who he wants to talk to and what he wants to tell.”
“You will find that anybody involved with Ted Lasso will say the same thing: Our fearless leader Jason Sudeikis will talk about that when he’s ready. I’m sure he’s somewhere right now at SNL[‘s 50th anniversary show] answering the same question.”
Ted Lasso was originally pitched as a three-season affair. Though the terms will obviously soon be altered to make way for Ted Lasso season 4.
What could the fourth season of Ted Lasso be about?
[Ted Lasso season 3 finale spoiler warning]
To recap: after deciding his time at both AFC Richmond and London has come to an end in the penultimate episode, college football coach turned Premier League sensation Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) returns to Wichita, Kansas, where he intends to be there full-time for his son Henry (Gus Turner) and ostensibly repair his broken marriage with ex-wife Michelle (Andrea Anders).
Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) tearfully parts ways with his longtime compadre to continue the good work they’ve been accomplishing with the Greyhounds, which placed second in the standings after Manchester City; serving as assistant coach to the newly-promoted head honcho Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein).
It’s unclear whether Nate Shelley (Nick Mohammed) remains a kit man or slips into his former role as Richmond’s assistant coach after his tenure as the West Ham United head coach / the enemy. But either way, he’s back in everybody’s good books.
Team owner Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), on the other hand, has officially bested her cretin of an ex-husband Rupert Mannion (Anthony Head) — in the business of football and otherwise.
While she initially entertained the notion of selling AFC Richmond for a staggering $2 billion, instead, the boss lady opts to sell 49% of the club to the fans. And just as a bonus, Rebecca is reunited with her mysterious Dutch lover who turns out to be an airline pilot.

As for everyone else, it’s happy endings all round. Keeley Jones’ (Juno Temple) PR company appears to be flourishing, and she proposes the establishment of the AFC Richmond women’s team; Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster) reconciles with his estranged father in rehab; Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh) eventually gets tapped to represent the Nigerian national team.
Trent Crimm (James Lance) has a best-selling hit on his hands with The Richmond Way (formerly The Lasso Way); Colin Hughes (Billy Harris) finally gets to kiss his fella on the pitch; and having returned as Richmond’s Head of Mental Health, Dr Sharon M. Fieldstone (Sarah Niles) begins treating — get this — Roy Kent.
All in all, while everything has been tied up in a neat little bow, there’s certainly room for further exploration.

Potential storylines for Ted Lasso season 4 we once proposed include the following:
- Whatever draws Ted back into the world of Premier League football
- The AFC Richmond women’s team
- The rise and rise of Sam Obisanya
- The rise and rise of Jamie Tartt (veering towards team leadership)
- And as always, the next Premier League campaign (either under the leadership of Roy Kent, Ted himself, or even Nate)
But as mentioned earlier, early details surrounding season 4’s story have now emerged, eliminating a few of the options.
On the New Heights podcast, Jason Sudeikis revealed Ted would be coaching that women’s team.
“It’s daunting, because we told the story we wanted to tell, but there’s more there,” he said.
“It’s a neat group of people to work with and a wonderful group of characters to write for.”
Sudeikis also offered a hint at the coming continuation’s theme via statement:
“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to look before we leap, in Ted Lasso season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
Ted Lasso spin-offs?
While there’s been no official word on any Ted Lasso related spin-off properties right now, as we outlined in the season 3 finale recap above, there’s definitely room to explore.
Do we know the Ted Lasso season 4 cast?

Despite all the chatter about Warner Bros Television picking up the options for Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, and Brett Goldstein; the negotiations surrounding Brendan Hunt and Juno Temple; as well as the conversation surrounding Nick Mohammed… beyond Jason Sudeikis, Apple TV+ has yet to formally confirm any other cast members for Ted Lasso season 4.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources indicate that Temple is in negotiations to reprise her role as Keeley, and Brendan Hunt — also a co-creator and executive producer — is close to signing on to play Coach Beard again.
Here’s every other notable player who was still on the field by the end of season 3:
- Sarah Niles as Dr Sharon M. Fieldstone
- Anthony Head as Rupert Mannion
- Toheeb Jimoh as Samuel “Sam” Obisanya
- Cristo Fernández as Dani Rojas
- Kola Bokinni as Isaac McAdoo
- Billy Harris as Colin Hughes
- James Lance as Trent Crimm
- Matteo van der Grijn as Rebecca’s Dutch houseboat dweller/airline pilot love interest
When is the Ted Lasso season 4 release date (Australia or otherwise)?
Assuming Nick Mohammed wasn’t pulling our leg when he said cameras had began rolling — and assuming the usual 12-18 month production cycle required for past seasons — we can expect Ted Lasso season 4 sometime in early-to-mid 2026.
