It seems like we aren’t quite done with The Conjuring universe with Warner Bros. announcing this week that the studio is planning a Conjuring TV series, set to expand the successful cinematic universe that director James Wan started in 2013.
While The Conjuring universe is made up of eight feature films so far, mostly split between The Conjuring and the Annabelle movies. Quality has varied quite a bit over the years but the supernatural horror franchise has still gone on to gross around US$2.1 billion (AU$3.1 billion), making it the most successful horror property in Hollywood history.
Wan and Peter Safran are reportedly working with Warners Bros. to produce the new Conjuring show, which will be one of the signature offerings from HBO Max’s and Warners Brother’s rebranded streaming service Max, which we already know will be streaming True Detective: Night Country later this year.

Details haven’t been revealed about The Conjuring series but the recent announcement indicates that the show will “continue the established story in the feature films.” That most likely means the show will be following demonologists Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) as they investigate either one singular paranormal event or multiple ones throughout the show’s run.
Whenever The Conjuring series does arrive remains to be seen but we do know that we’ll at least be getting two more feature films from the cinematic universe. The first will be Nun 2, due in cinemas for early September 2023. We’ll also be getting a fourth mainline Conjuring film with both Wilson and Farmiga bringing back their respective characters for the first time since 2021’s underrated The Devil Made Me Do It.
Development of The Conjuring TV series is nascent at best right now. A writer is yet to be attached to the project so all we really know is that Warners Bros. will work on this project for MAX with Safran and Wan being the executive producers, as reported by Variety.
