In a cinematic foray outside of capes, superpowers, and alien species, Chris Hemsworth will soon grace our small screens as grizzled mercenary, Tyler Rake, in the upcoming Netflix release Extraction.
The story is as follows:
Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) is a fearless black-market mercenary with nothing left to lose when his skills are solicited to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord. But in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, an already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of Rake and the boy.
Interestingly enough, this project involves Marvel Cinematic Universe darlings – the Russo Brothers. For those who have miraculously evaded the cultural ubiquity of Joe and Anthony Russo, the duo are best known for directing the Captain America films from The Winter Solider onward; as well as the record-breaking Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
This time around, however, the Russos will only be serving in a writing and producing capacity. While fellow MCU alumni and seasoned stunt coordinator, Sam Hargrave, will be making his directorial debut. A field-tested authority on screen action who made his bones collaborating with the Russos, you may remember Hargrave as James Gasciogne in Atomic Blonde.
Extraction will be available to stream on Netflix come April 24th of this year.
