Ahead of tonight’s finale, FX has gone ahead and given Welcome To Wrexham season 3 the green light, with a release date already scheduled for “Spring 2024” (meaning March/April/May in Australia).
“The wild global success of Welcome To Wrexham is a testament to the courage and vision of Rob and Ryan, the dogged spirit of the Red Dragons, and the hope and devotion of the people of Wrexham,” stated Nick Grad, FX Entertainment President.
“It’s a story that has only begun to be told and one that everyone can continue to follow along with in the third season. Our thanks to the creative team who captured these thrilling moments and everyone who achieved what seemed impossible only a short time ago.”

As anyone keeping up with either the hit docuseries (which streams on Disney+) or Wrexham AFC itself will tell you, this is just the beginning…
After failing to be promoted out of the National League during the 2021-22 season, despite the massive cash injection/added profile from owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, the perennial underdog of a Welsh football team returned for the 2022-23 season in full strength.
In a historic run, they’d live up to their “giant killers” status in the FA Cup, knocking out EFL Championship side Coventry City 4-3 before drawing with Sheffield United 3-3 at the single-elimination tournament’s fourth round.
During the fifth round, however, Wrexham AFC would be knocked out by Sheffield United 3-1 in a replay match. The latter, which was then a Championship team, would eventually secure promotion to the Premier League at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season, where it’s currently second-last after Burnley.
