In recent years, Oris has aligned itself with organisations protecting our oceans. To celebrate a number of these partnerships, the brand has unveiled a trilogy of limited edition watches with a striking aqua blue theme. While the two more complicated, circular date and chronograph pieces are lovely to look at, it’s the simplicity of the Oris Clean Ocean, and the price, that piqued the majority of my interest.
Originally unveiled at Baselworld, but finally available this month, Oris in partnership with Pacific Garbage Screening, has dropped a 2000 piece limited edition Aquis Date diver that lets the sunburst aqua blue dial and ceramic bezel do the talking. The Aquis Clean Ocean Limited Edition features a 39.5mm stainless steel case with a unidirectional rotating bezel and a depth rating of 300m.
Under the steel case back is the Oris Calibre 733, based on the Sellita SW 200-1 movement sporting a 38-hour power reserve with hacking functionality. A unique medallion on the case back made from recycled PET bottles acknowledges the partnership alongside an environmentally friendly presentation box with recycled plastic inlay.

If the blue hasn’t done enough to captivate you, the price certainly will at just AU$3,200, with, we can only assume, a portion of each sale going to Pacific Garbage Screening.
For those interested in supporting three great causes and acquiring three rather handsome watches in the process the Oris Ocean Trilogy can be purchased and is limited to 200 sets, available as of June 2019 and priced at CHF 9,600 (AU$13,980).
