As if earning $18,500 per minute thanks to his blockbuster contract extension wasn’t enough, Golden State Warriors superstar – Steph Curry – is now poised to sign an incredibly lucrative lifetime agreement with Under Armour potentially worth over $1 billion.
The four-time NBA champion, two-time NBA MVP, eight-time All-Star, and all-time leader of three-pointers scored has been Team Under Armour since 2013, shortly after rival brand Nike fumbled the bag and lost the Baby-Faced Assassin for “a number of reasons.”
Initially, the partnership paid the future Hall of Famer approximately $4 million per year. These days, he’s earning a considerably more on an annual basis: $20 million. And as the current deal nears its 2024 expiry date, unsurprisingly, it would appear Under Armour is keen to secure the loyalty of Steph Curry with this proposed lifetime contract well before the deadline closes.

At one stage, Steph Curry and Under Armour’s extremely profitably relationship almost came to a grinding half due to friction between the professional baller and UA Founder & CEO Kevin Plank (despite the latter claiming “there was zero beef”). From the design of Curry’s early signature sneakers to political beliefs, the two simply weren’t seeing eye to eye.
“There wasn’t quite an understanding of what it took to run a business like that properly – so, yeah, I got mad,” Steph Curry explained to Rolling Stone of Under Armour’s commitment to his shoes at the time.
It also didn’t help when Plank praised the business mindset of then-newly-elected US President Donald Trump on CNBC, calling #45 a “real asset to the country.” Prompted about the comment the next day, Curry replied, “I agree with that description, if you remove the ‘et.’”

“When you represent a company that big, you can’t just fly by the seat of your pants,” said Curry.
After a summit with Kevin Plank in the summer of 2018, however, all matters were ostensibly resolved. Because you tend to be more agreeable when someone offers you ownership of a subsidiary brand a la Michael Jordan.
“Certain things needed to change, or else. I put it on the table,” revealed Curry.
“I don’t have to raise my voice to get mad. That’s the best part about it.”
With the bills soundly taken care of for several generations, and his undergraduate studies at Davidson College finally completed, Steph Curry enters his 14th NBA season on the hunt for that fifth championship ring.
