Singer Alicia Keys has dropped a cool AU$30.5 million on a Wallace E. Cunningham designed Californian mansion. Known as the “Razor House,” this multi-level cliff face property is the most expensive home sold in La Jolla, California, this year.
Often compared to Tony Stark’s luxurious home from the Iron Man films, the mansion covers a massive 10,653 square-feet and includes four bedrooms (two of these are master suites), a round living room with a fireplace, a library with a custom made Ralph Lauren pool table, a den, a theatre, a gym with two steam rooms and a modern kitchen fitted with appliances from Gaggeneau, Miele, and Hoshizaki.
Almost all of the walls are glass, offering spectacular views of the Pacific ocean, while the white and grey interiors reflect the concrete sections of the build. The floors are made from travertine stone, apart from the library that features walnut flooring, while the family room also includes a custom made shagreen liquor cabinet and bar.
The outside is just as impressive and contains a number of lounge areas and a rooftop space with a kitchen, perfect for entertaining in the warmer months. An incredible infinity pool traces along the cliff edge and a private two-bedroom guest house is great for anyone who wants to stay the night.
Although Keys paid a handsome figure for the property, she managed to jag it for $15 million less than the original asking price, which we’d consider a bargain. Keys isn’t the only celebrity of late to splash the cash on real estate, with Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo laying out a considerably less sum of $2.3 million for a holiday villa in Marbella.
