The team behind the “Earth Ship” home is the Sydney-based studio Luigi Rosselli Architects, who have taken a style of design most commonly seen in the late 20th century and used it to replace the previous dwelling that more closely resembled a drilling platform that towered above its rocky foundation. To bring the home closer to earth, literally and figuratively, the architects added an additional two lower levels to the existing two-story home, linking it directly to its garden below.
Inside, this connection to the surroundings is felt in almost every room with the rammed earth walls bringing some colour into the residence, amplifying its spectacular harbour views, while a thoughtfully designed set of staircases connect the different levels that each feature a main kitchen and living area, a guest bedroom, a sunroom, and a gym.
