As part of its continued (and prolific) commitment to individually tailorable spirits, Archie Rose is unveiling what it dubs a “global-first whisky personalisation service”.
Part of the Tailored Spirits Range, this new whisky gives consumers around the world – crucially, not just in Australia – the ability to commission their own unique whisky; with deep customisation options ranging from flavour profile to the labeling that goes on your individual bottle.
The release expands on the award-winning Sydney distillery’s bespoke cask program; and at time of writing, will give dram lovers the ability to tinker with the proportions of three distinctive “100% Australian” malts. These consist of an orchard fruit-inspired ‘NSW Pale’ malt; a smoke-laden ‘Native Stringybark’ malt; and a chocolate malt that is rich in flavours of stout, dark cacao and coffee beans.

According to Dave Withers, Master Distiller at Archie Rose, the goal with Tailored Whisky was to “democratise” the custom ordering process: something that traditionally, can get very expensive alarmingly quickly – with prices for ‘new make’ barrels starting at around $5,000.
The company’s unique individual “malt stream” process and activation of a second distillery in 2021 (located at Botany) have been central to achieving this new initiative; and it’s exciting to imagine the dozens of possible permutations that whisky enthusiasts will be able to craft – even using just the 3 Aussie malt strains that are available upon release.
