At this stage, pretty much every household name has a gin brand, including Brad Pitt.

Just weeks after the arrival of Emma Watson’s wine-inspired Renais, the Bullet Train actor has unveiled his very own London-style dry take on the spirit – dubbed The Gardener Gin – which has been handcrafted alongside Matthieu Perrin of the Perrin winemaking family, who is also Pitt’s longtime winemaking partner, and ex-Tanqueray master distiller Tom Nichol.

A secret project of two years, The Gardner Gin shares some superficial similarities with Renais in that it seeks to bottle the essence of a French region, but where it differs is the region in question.

“The light of the French Riviera is a lifeblood. Here, in this place blessed by the gods, the earth is tended by The Gardener,” explained Matthieu Perrin in an oddly poetic statement.

“The Gardener works in harmony with the shifts of the season, the exchange of warmth and cold, the pleasures of living well. With the wisdom of experience, the gift of intuition, the whim of experimentation, The Gardener builds a recipe that combines the mystery of nature with the pleasure of knowledge.”

“The Gardener tends earth, time, all the while guarding a way of life that exists nowhere else in the world.”

… right-o.

As for the slightly more tangible details, The Gardener Gin has been distilled from a wheat base in copper stills with a botanical mixture of juniper, liquorice, angelica, coriander, pink grapefruit, lemon, as well as sweet and bitter oranges sourced from the Cap d’Antibes. Expect the light, aromas, and flavours of Mediterranean France.

The Gardener Gin by Brad Pitt, Matthieu Perrin, and Tom Nichol is scheduled to officially debut at the Carlton Hotel during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival (because of course it will) before hitting the shelves in September later this year. Retail price TBA.
