Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have entered the celebrity alcohol game with the release of Dos Hombres Mezcal. Ditching the meth racket of their on-screen characters and investing in booze, the duo’s mezcal is a smooth drinking spirit sure to please even the fussiest agave purists.
In an Instagram post shared by both Cranston and Paul, the two explained how they set out to create a “real, artisanal Mezcal made by hand in Mexico,” with both “crazy about the taste, the aroma, and the versatility of this smokey, age-old alcohol.”

Distilled by San Luis del Rio, a small village in the mezcal heavy region of Oaxaca, Dos Hombres is made from EspadÃn agave that’s a minimum of six years old. The agave is cooked underground for four days after being harvested to bring out the natural sugars. It’s then ground into a paste by a traditional stone wheel, often pulled by a donkey. This mash is left to ferment in wooden tubs for between 7-10 days before the final two-day distilling process transforms the mash into a drinkable liquid.
The end result is a supple liqueur with hints of apple, mango, pineapple, local Oaxacan fruits, smoke and wood. Dos Hombres is an easy to consume mezcal with a price to match, retailing for US$90 a bottle online.

This isn’t the first Breaking Bad related alcohol product, with actor Dean Norris releasing Schraderbrau beer earlier this year – named after his character, DEA agent Hank Schrader.
