Over the past 30 years, it’s become clear that Michael Jordan knows a thing or two about winning – on the court, in business, and most recently in the world of ultra-premium spirits. Five years after its launch, MJ’s tequila powerhouse, Cincoro Tequila, has hit Australian shores and is already making waves.
Founded by five successful NBA legends – Michael Jordan , Jeanie Buss (Los Angeles Lakers), Wes Edens (Milwaukee Bucks), Wyc Grousbeck, and Emilia Fazzalari (Boston Celtics) – Cincoro was destined for greatness from the get-go.
Its name, a blend of cinco (five) and oro (gold), reflects this all-star team’s mission: to set the global gold standard for tequila. Since its debut in 2019, Cincoro has been doing just that, picking up dozens of major accolades like “Best Añejo Tequila” at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and over 29 awards in accredited spirits competitions along the way.
Cincoro Tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave, sourced from Jalisco’s Highlands and Lowlands to create a balanced and distinctive flavour profile. The Reposado, for example, even has an American spin on it, aged in Tennessee whiskey barrels for 20 months to deliver rich layers of honey, butterscotch, and warm spice without overpowering the palate.
A crisp and refreshing Blanco bottling is also available, as well as deeper, aged Añejo and Extra Añejo varieties. The latter doubles down on aging for 40 months to unlock a luxurious blend of dried fruits and sweet maple for an endlessly smooth finish.
Beyond the liquid, each tequila is packed in a less-is-more agave leaf-inspired bottle that is, itself, a statement. A standout feature is the distinctive 23-degree angle, a nod to Michael Jordan’s iconic jersey number. The team has covered all bases with this award-winning range of tequilas, offering all four in three size formats (375mL, 750mL and 1,750mL) to ensure that you’ve got something for every occasion.
Whether you’re looking to add some NBA gold to your home bar this year, or you’re in the market for a phenomenal new spirit, Cincoro needs to be on your radar. After all, if it’s good enough for the GOAT, it’s more than good enough for your top shelf.
