In a splash of good news for oenophiles, the folks at Halliday Wine Companion have teamed up with Coravin (makers of the eponymous argon gas pouring system) to offer diners the chance to get their lips around five of the guide’s top varietal wines of the year.

As you’d expect, Coravin comes into the picture by giving bars & restaurants the tools to pour collectible bottles by the glass — an especially big boon in the case of Brown Brothers’ ‘Patricia’ and Thistledown’s ‘This Charming Man’, both of which are sealed under cork.

These five ‘Wine Of The Year’ winners will be available by Coravin throughout the month of September, in three carefully chosen venues located in Sydney, Adelaide, and Victoria. (Apologies to those playing from Queensland and Western Australia.)

Part of Coravin’s broader ‘World Wine Tour’ programming for 2024, each of Halliday’s wines of the year is available in 150ml/100ml portions. In Sydney, you can sip a glass (or five) at Fix Wine Bar & Restaurant in the CBD.

Meanwhile, Adelaide residents should head over to 2KW — where they can enjoy the Halliday Coravin offering from the rooftop of one of the city’s most historically significant buildings.

Finally, Melburnians who aren’t averse to stretching their legs can head down to Archive Wine Bar in Geelong: a slightly out-of-the-way venue in Geelong that the Halliday Wine Companion team opted to link up with because of their famously long by-the-glass list. (Aside from Halliday’s wines of the year, Archive currently offers 150 pours via Coravin.)
